There are some osage orange trees in Stoughton. We used to call them brain fruits :)

Brainfruit is a better name than "hedgeapple". I wouldn't have tried to take a bite of something called brainfruit.
Good point - because though they are not strongly poisonous, eating maclura pomifera may cause vomiting.
